Good Morning Team Illinois Supporters:
Just a few things to touch base on this beautiful Thursday morning!
First, a big "Thank You" to Angelique for organizing last weekend's "Roll, Skate, Bounce" Fundraiser! Pictures from the event are posted here..
Info Share
General information about the 2010 Games has been posted here but to get all the details, make sure you attend one of the 5 upcoming info shares. The first one is next week, September 10th in Champaign. If you haven't done so already, please be sure to RSVP by Tuesday!
Fund raisers
Even though we've already stated that we will only be able to provide uniforms and pins for the 2010 Games (hotel and travel expenses will be on your own), we still need your help in raising funds so that we can provide the necessary uniform pieces for each team member. Bring the family out to one of the upcoming fund raisers and support your Team Members who have put a lot of time and effort into organizing the following events:
Sept. 12 Gift of Life Golf Outing in McHenry
Sept. 12 Bowling Fundraiser in Peoria
Oct. 17 Ladies Night Out in Burr Ridge (information coming soon)
Give Back Committee Meeting
With more than 100,000 people still waiting for a life saving organ/tissue transplant, Team Illinois will be raising awareness and educating the public on the need to re-register their decision to donate!
The Give Back Committee will be meeting on Saturday, September 26th at the Lake Zurich Public Library from 10am -11:30am to discuss opportunities for Team Illinois to "Give Back". If you'd like to join the group, please RSVP by Monday, September 21st.
Heroes T-Shirt
We are getting ready to roll out another t-shirt! This one will recognize and thank all of those who generously gave the gift of life, sight and mobility. The front will have the Team Illinois slogan: "Give Life. Give Thanks" and on the back will read: "Giving Thanks to Our Heroes" and then list all the names of our heroes.
If you would like the name of your loved one or your living donor's name on the shirt, please email me:
1. your name
2. the name of your loved one or living donor as you would like it to appear on the shirt
If you do not know the name of our donor, we will include a statement that says thanks to those we do not know, but hold close to our hearts.
The deadline to submit a name is Friday, October 9th. Shirts will be available for purchase in November.
National Donor Sabbath 2009
Share your story or host a donor registration drive and share the importance of donation and transplantation with your faith based community on the weekend of November 13-15, 2009.
Most religions in the United States either officially support organ and tissue donation or support the individual choices of their members; donation is viewed as an act of compassion and generosity.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming fund raisers and info shares! Have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day Weekend!
