Who is considered to be a Team Illinois Member?

  1. Organ Recipient (Athlete or Spectator. Recipient Athlete plans to participate in athletic events.  Recipient Spectator does not plan to participate in athletic events or cannot due to medical restrictions.)
  2. Living Donor
  3. Deceased Donor Family Member

Family members, friends and transplant professionals are Secondary Team Members.

Requirements to Participate as a Transplant Athlete:

  • Must be nine months post transplant 
  • Transplanted organs must be fully functioning.
  • All athletes will need to turn in a completed medical waiver…more information to come. 

  New for 2010

  • Living donors will have an opportunity to participate in 3 athletic events against other living donors!
  • There will be a Team Tailgate dinner before Opening Ceremonies! 

 Team Illinois Uniforms

Team IL will provide uniforms and pins only for Primary Team Members (recipients, living donors and donor family members).  Secondary Team Members, which include family members, friends and transplant professionals will be able to purchase certain uniform pieces.

Team Member Profile

  • If you are planning to attend the Games, I need a Team Member profile from ALL PRIMARY TEAM MEMBERS
  • Only those who turn in a completed profile will continue to receive updates  
  • The Team Member Profile IS NOT an official registration, it is simply to help the Leadership Team budget appropriately for uniforms and pins
  • Profiles will be posted online in the next few days and are due December 11 but would be appreciated early

Opening of Registration
Nationals has NOT YET determined a yet been chosen for the opening of registration…more information to come.

You will reserve your hotel right AFTER your register for the Games.

Hotel cancellations are subject to a fee (which has not yet been confirmed by Nationals for the 2010 Games)

Transportation while at the Games

  • I strongly encourage EVERYONE to use the shuttles that the Games will provide for us.  I would not suggest driving your car from venue to venue. 
  • The Alliant Energy Center will be the transportation hub with shuttles continuously going to Downtown, UW Campus, Games hotels, bowling alley and golf course
  • If you register for the Games AND your hotel on line, your transportation pass will be included
  • If you ONLY register for the Games and not your hotel, you will need to pay the additional $40 fee to use the shuttle
  • Plan accordingly and allow extra time.  You do not want to be late for your athletic event as you will be scratched from the event and not allowed to participate!
  • If you are staying at a hotel downtown, please note there is an overnight parking fee.  Contact individual hotels for the exact cost.

Athletic Events and Team Sports
Nicole Sisen, our Athletic Coordinator, will determine teams for doubles and team sports.  We are anticipating a large interest in basketball and volleyball, therefore tryouts will take place since we are limited to specific of athletes who can be placed on the roster.   Tryouts will take place at the end of March/early April so that if you do not make the Team, you will have plenty of time to get back on line and register for another athletic event. 

After registration opens, Nicole will contact you if she needs any specific information related to your chosen athletic event.

Registration Fees
You will note on the PowerPoint, there are different registration fees based on your participation in the Games and when you actually register. If for some reason you register for the Games and then cannot attend, the REGISTRATION FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE!
